For those of you that don't know, I'm leaving for Ecuador August 28 to teach English for a year. It's something I've always wanted to do, and due to my quarter-life crisis, decided to take a leap and live outside of my comfort zone. I'm extremely nervous, but excited as well. This weekend has really gotten me eager to leave for my upcoming journey south of the equator (barely).
Really, I've done a lot of thinking, planning, and researching. I found out that Ecuador uses the American dollar, yet everything is much, much cheaper there. Awesome. I'm also looking into the possibility of volunteering at one of the professional soccer teams' youth programs, to get more experience as a coach. My Spanish is still awful. Necesito practicar espanol or else I'll be in trouble!
I hope everyone will follow this blog. I will try to post as much as possible to let everyone know about my experiences, challenges, and successes. Feel free to contact me whenever you please at benjamenlewis@gmail.com
PS
Even though I'm teaching English you may notice some spelling errors. Don't judge me. You can thank my mom for my diverse vocabulary (inside joke ;) and thank spell check for my spelling blunders...
If you want to help me raise miney for school suppliers, etc, please click here, and put my name and email address(as above) in the spaces provided!
