Pinchincha!

A group of us decided to climb this mountain near Quito on Saturday the 19th. It’s name is Pinchincha and has an elevation of about 15,000 feet. I don’t know if that’s very high or what, but it was an amazing adventure. Tara and I woke up still drunk, due to our festivities the previous night, yet Keith motivated us enough to actually make the climb. We met up with six other members of our group at the mountain and proceeded to climb. Now, let me just say, it’s hard enough walking up and down stairs in Quito due to the tremendous elevation. Climbing this mountain was one of the most strenuous things I’ve ever done, and thought about quitting numerous times. It was just a hike, until we got within a hundred yards of the top. Then some serious rock climbing took place. The view at the top was amazing and defiantly worth the struggle. Although one of the most strenuous things, it was also easily one of the top five experiences of my life. The group bonding, the struggle, and the view made the day an easy success. Instead of writing a lot I will post some pictures of the adventure. They are also on Facebook if you want to look at pictures of my taken by other people. The rest of the week consisted of more orientation, partying, and practice teaching. Although fun, no good stories to write home about.
